David Wang
Master's Student with the Healthy Buildings Programs
David Wang is a Master of Science candidate in Environmental Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a student researcher with the Healthy Buildings Program. His work focuses on indoor air quality, ventilation, and thermal conditions in K–12 schools, with a particular emphasis on how building design, HVAC systems, and local climate shape classroom environments. Drawing on real-time sensor networks and room-level environmental data, he studies patterns in carbon dioxide, particulate matter, VOCs, temperature, and humidity to better understand how school infrastructure affects student and staff exposure.
His current research examines public schools in Hawaiʻi, where he analyzes indoor air quality across different building types, ventilation systems, and microclimates, and evaluates how HVAC recommissioning may influence classroom conditions and energy use. More broadly, he is interested in translating building science into practical strategies that improve health, comfort, and learning outcomes in schools and other occupied spaces. He holds a B.A. from New York University.
